Finding a prom dress can be like locating a needle in a haystack. Here are some ways to start searching!
It’s hard to keep up with all the styles when it comes to teen prom gowns, especially since they are changing faster than a teenager in a dressing room! Here's a look at what some of the current trends in prom gowns are and how to help your teen find the perfect dress. How Much Will the Dress Cost? You will be able to find a prom gown in a variety of prices – from $20 to $2000 or much more, if you want to send your daughter to the prom in couture. Retail shops have formal dresses all year round, so if you are looking for a bargain, it may be best to look in the off-season. Summer is the best time to get good prices on the prom gowns that came out for spring. However, remember – styles change. So if you buy a dress in summer, your daughter may consider it ‘out of style’ by the following spring. The key is to decide your budget early. Tell your teen she will be allowed spend a certain specific amount. Encourage her to be thrifty – if she checks ebay, she may be able to find a designer dress at department store prices. Try It On!Your teen will not know what kind of prom gown she wants until she tries some on. What looks great in very tall, very thin models in teen magazines may not look quite the same in her own mirror. Trying on gowns is the only way a teen will know whether she prefers a long or a short dress or which colors look best on her. Teens should be comfortable in the gown they choose so they can enjoy their evening! What’s In Style?Trends in this year’s prom dress colors include bright jewel tones, black and white, or metallics. However, if your daughter still has her fairy-tale princess ideals in place, she will also be able to find a pink confection worthy of a Disney movie as well! Girls should choose colors based on what they like, not ‘what’s hot.’ Certain colors look best on certain skin types and hair colors – girls should try on lots of colors and lengths of dresses for variety. Also – take pictures in the dressing room! If the teen won’t be purchasing a dress right away in the store or wants to look around online, having pictures in different dress styles will help her find an ultimate choice. Shop Online!Once your teen has tried on a bunch of different gowns and narrowed her choices, you may want to start looking at prom dress websites – the gown of her dreams may be just a click away! Ebay has between 10,000 and 20,000 gowns for sale on any given day! Girls can search by color and size or brand name to find their perfect dress. Doing a Google search on ‘prom gowns’ will land you hundreds of sites on which to ‘shop around.’ Read more about:
