Looking for Christmas gift ideas for teens? Here are some creative gifts for that sometimes-hard-to-please friend or family member- the teenager!

Let’s face it. They aren’t always the easiest to buy for! 13 year olds like different things than 18 year olds, and so forth, so what are some easy, creative ideas for gifts that will be popular with the teensomething crowd?

Ipod and Beyond

Does your favorite teenager already have an ipod? If so, there are many gifts you could choose that would serve as a companion to their music player. An ipod docking station/alarm clock is a perfect gift, so they can play music in their room and be on time for school! You could also give your ipod fan an itunes gift card, which enables them to purchase and download music for their player. Also new in ipod accessories are the adorable i-pets- you can buy an i-dog or i-cat in a bunch of cool designs- they even have their own clothes and carrying cases- a virtual pet that plays their music!

Gift Cards

It’s really almost impossible to pick out clothing for teenagers without them there- and you don’t want to risk being ‘that relative’ who gives the ugly sweaters, so why not simply choose a gift card at their favorite store? If you don’t know which store at the nearby mall they frequent, you can buy a general mall gift card at the mall customer service counter- then the teenager can choose any store in the mall to spend their loot. They’ll appreciate your thoughtfulness in letting them pick out their own gift!

When in Doubt- Cash!

No doubt the most popular Christmas gift in the history of the universe, cash allows teenagers to purchase items of their choice. It may seem impersonal, but sometimes, especially if you don’t know what the teenager likes, this can be the simplest way to please them - it’s sure easy to ship, and that bill falling out of the card ALWAYS brings a smile!

Gift With A Cause

Admirably, many teenagers work as volunteers for their favorite charitable cause. Whether it’s global warming, leukemia or orphans in Darfur, if you are able to find out what the charity of their choice is, you can make a donation in the teen’s name and present it as a Christmas gift. This is truly the gift that keeps on giving- and it shows older kids that giving is always better than receiving at Christmas. The item in the photo is a very cool "You Are Here" totebag made from recycled soda bottles! The proceeds benefit Earth Island Institute conservation efforts.

One thing you might consider when choosing a gift for a teenager is talking to one of their friends or family members to find out what they already have and what they’d love to receive. A friend or family member might know of a wish list they’ve set up on a website, or which video games they play.
